Do you know how much MORE mess 2 Pekins make compared to 6 Runners and a J Pekin.....ALOT.
They are in a 45 gallon Tote, plenty of room for the 2 of them but good Lord, they make a mess. I would of taken a photo of how I left them before I went to church and the state I can home to 2 1/2 hours later but Im not going to do that to you with you sitting down to your Sunday dinner

. Yes they are easy to wash out every day while I put them in the bath for their clean up and swim/play time along with PEAS. Im going thru 8 puppy pads a day, Im wondering if old towels would be better. Where would I get old towels, do they sell them in Goodwill?
I went to K Mart yesterday to see if they have their kiddy pools in yet, she told me... No Ma'am... in her politest voice...Its still to cold for pools.....So I told her to come to my house and explain that to my ducks!!!!
Im thinking if I can get a kids pool and put hard wire mesh round it so they cant jump out, yep, my ducks do jump and can even jump out the bath when they are ready, no telling me...oh we are clean and ready to be dried off and dinner to be served, just SPLASH AND PLOP..out the bath they come. It doesnt help that I need to clean out the spare room that they are in...full of boxes, empty from digging out my winter sweaters and barn jackets...you can only wear 1 barn jacket at a time...so why do I have like...erm, about 20 of them. My saddle rack and saddle bag are in there, saddle is in the barn getting mouldy as I speak. The boxes for the Christmas tree and deccys...yes I know, I still have my tree up....dont ask!! I really really need to pull my finger out and clean up before my next lot of eggs hatch...Im only on day 12 I think, but knowing me, I will leave it till the 1st duckling hatches and then run round like a headless chicken!!! wondering what the heck im going to do with no room. I have just remembered I have a spare pool in the old house with a little hole in it, I knew I was keeping it for something, so I need to go eat down at the neighbours then come home and clean out my spare room so my ducks have more room...TO MAKE A MESS. No idea where Im going to put all the stuff in the spare room, knowing me, It will go into the other spare room untill someone decided to come visit and I will have to move it all back out and back into the oter spare room. I really dont live in chaos, I just sound like I do...Ok so my spare room is chaos, but I could live with that...up untill now.

Welcome to ducky ownership world. What else can be said. Mine are laying eggs, I'm selling them on ebay. Yet, I have to itch to hatch. I know better to wait until it gets warmer. LOL

Once you keep ducks you know the real reason why Donald Duck doesn't wear pants.

Yes, I would definitely recommend using towels for flooring, have several so they can be rinsed & hung to dry in-between uses. You should be able to find some at the thrift stores, even better, ask your friends, family, & local FreeCyclers to save their old threadbare ones for you. The more you have the more often you can change them.

It also helps to set the ducks' water dish in a tray or something like the lid to a plastic shoe box. Put it in one end of the bin and tip the other end up an inch or two to help keep the spilled water all on one end.

I can see them saying it is too cold for kiddie pools. If you have a feed store or tractor supply store near you you might find a stock tank (what farmers use to give water to their critters). The black plastic 50 gallon size is something I'm going to get if I break down and get some ducks this year. I believe you can add a plug to make water changing easier. I think it would be longer-lasting than a kiddie pool, too.

You should be able to find something you can use at Good Will or other type store.
If not, target sometimes has the not so good towels really cheap (and I'm sure walmart and other stores do as well). Dollar store?
With my 3, I had one bath towel on the bottom of the kennel and then the puppy pad under the water. As they got older, it got nasty, but it was outside, so I only changed it once a day. Hosed the towel down and then washed every 3 days.
But the charity type stores should have something you can use.

But look at that little ducky face peering over the top of the bin! So precious!

I feel your pain. Currently my deck is a poopy mess. My ducks love to stand at the back sliding doors off my kitchen and watch me work in the kitchen all day. With warm days few and far between, the hose is frozen most of the time so I can't squirt off the deck. But oh, seeing those little ducky faces light up when I enter the kitchen, quacking up a storm!

Why would it be to cold for them to stay in a kiddy pool, its not for them to swim in. They will be in a heated room. The reason for the pool is to give them more room to run round with out me having to go down to let them out their tote to run round the room and poopin on my carpet. A kids pool is going to be bigger than a stock tank, plus im not speding 70 odd bucks on a stock tank that has the same amount of room as a 45 gal tote.

I have a plastic pond type thingy out in the yard that the ducks dont use, to high to get in and they wont get up the steps I made, so Im going to empty t and sell it. So yes, stock tanks are great...if your ducks will go up and down and dont mind falling out and over the tank and getting hurt, plus why fill a huge 50 gall pool when a plastic one does the same. It still turns into a dirty mess in a blink of an eye and when you empty the water your ducks are only going to go play in that water and dig mud holes to play in and for you to fall down in

. Oh and do you know how long it takes to fill a stock tank compared to a kids pool when you have a buncha ducks all quacking excitedly wanting a fresh swim.
