Dirty egg question

You could leave a fake egg or golf ball in the nest, if she's not understanding. Chickens learn from example and other chickens.

I put fake eggs in there since they were 18 weeks. I’m not worried about her not getting it she did it good for the first three days so it’s just a matter of time

Can you put something uncomfortable there? Like a large rock, bag of grit, etc? Just in case the nest box is her preparing-to-lay ritual but she's moving to the new location to actually drop the egg on purpose?

Even if you cannot muster the courage to eat this egg yourself, you might consider cooking it scrambled, with or without the crushed shell, and feeding it back to your laying hens. It has the perfect protein & amino acid profile, making it a delicious and nutritious treat.

? i thought the hens weren't supposed to eat their eggs? or is that just when they see where it came from?

Nothing wrong with them eating eggs, but you need to 'disguise' it so that they don't get any 'bright' ideas.

If the egg is cooked she won't associate it with fresh eggs and start eating the frsh ones.
