First how dirty is dirty?
most eggs will get a bit of poo or dirt on them its not a big deal .
most things I have read say dont wash eggs, but if you need to there are many diffrent opinions and Im quite confused about it , its like humidity everyone seems to think there method is the method, just remmber eggs are pouros and what you put on theout side can get inside, Hopefully a egg expert will answer you soon.

For the occasional spot I just wipe them off with a warm damp cloth.
Prevention is worth a pound of cure, so make sure you keep your nesting boxes clean with fresh bedding.

Before I was educated from this forum I washed my eggs clean with dish detergent before putting them in the homemade incubator. So far it is day 22 and three have hatched. Two survived so far. The others I know where developing at day 18 but nothing yet. I was worried after reading DO NOT WASH THEM! that none of them would hatch bit they did. Would I do it again? No I would not. If they are caked with mud or poop just don't use them in the bator. Just my opinion1

I simply wipe them with a damp paper towl and then dry them off with another paper towl.Just make sure you use water warmer then the egg.

im new at this.

Another way to help them from getting dirty is try using wood shavings instead of straw and sprinkle the bottom of the nest with DE.That's what I do anyhow.
