dirty eggs?

do I need to do anything special to clean poopy eggs for eating? up until now I was just rinsing, but today somone pooped all over them, I swear it was that darn roo

I just wash the poop off with a damp cloth. I try not to wash my eggs before I store them, unless they are poopy, because they stay fresh longer if unwashed.

Important ideas I got from it are: "A good water temperature is 90-120°F (32.2-49°C), or as hot as the hands can tolerate. . ." and ". . . unscented detergent . . ."

You dont want to scrub too hard on the egg, or you will destroy the bloom (the clear covering that keeps bacteria out of the egg) The bloom keeps the egg fresh longer. If it's really dirty try rubbing it with your finger or some sandpaper. If you really have to wash it, then use water that is warmer then the egg. Hope this helps!

Wipe them off with a damp cloth if youre selling them. If you are keeping them for your own use, wash em just before you use them.

Refrigerate the eggs, make sure they are cold.

I fill my kitchen sink with hot tap water and dish soap. Add the cold eggs, wash them.

I've done eggs for 9 years now. No issues. This is for eating eggs and I sell a lot of eggs. Never an unhappy customer.

We have a vote for hot as you can stand, and one for cold. Hmmm

The one that I don't get is the dish soap. Haven't you ever colored an egg for Easter?? The color soaks into the egg through the shell.

Don't you think soap does the same???

I wipe all of the dirty ones off with a damp paper towel before storing in the fridge. When I am ready to cook them I wash them in warm water like a dish.
