One of my 7 month old hens has a dirty butt. All other 5 hens look good and are acting well. They are in a large run, and I clean their poop board daily and the poop all looks normal. No signs of worms or parasites. Any advice?

Has she had some loose poops recently? Can you pull off any dry droppings and trim any excess fluff. Look for any red or irritated skin. In most flocks there may be a chicken with a dirty butt, while the others appear clean. Sometimes it can be positional, sometimes it is from having some diarrhea, and then it can pile on. Unless there is redness and irritation, there is probably nothing wrong. You can always give her a shallow soapy butt bath in a bucket, but get her thoroughly dry or blow dry her before she goes back outside.
