Hiya, I have 4 buff opingtons and 4 Rhodie island reds that are approximately 3 months old...they have been out and about in their coop and yard for about a moth now (we had a very long winter and I'm a first time chicken mama so I'm a tad bit... for lack of a better word... fussy...) and I notice that even when they where still in with me some of my buffs had like tiny blackish brown spots in their tail feathers? I have never given them baths they don't seemed bothered from it and I can't tell if My little reds have them. So is it just built up dust natural coloring or something worse? I will try and get a picture no but my camera is not very good and my girls are not very patient... any advice please?

Hummmm....

We're the blackish brown spots also on the skin?

If so, then yes, they have some sort of parasite. :(

You might want to look up chicken parasites, the fleas and mites etc.

I am sure that there are great pictures somewhere, then you will ave a good idea of what you have.

The spots where not on the skin from what I can see just the end tail feathers? So I'm guessing is just their coloring...? thank you!
