I have some silkie pullets and 2 or 3 little Silkie roos in together, till I get some sold, and they are reaching maturity. Roos are mounting the pullets, and I have gotten an egg or 2 every day or so. Now, some of the pullets have a messy grey stuff clotting up a few of the feathers directly below their vent. I see no reason for them to have diahrrea, and I am wondering if this is something the roo is depositing on them--perhaps he isn't exactly "hitting the mark" or maybe is dirtying a little bit as he breeds them. (not meaning to be indelicate). Anyone have any thoughts on this? If they are all getting the "scours" I want to do something, but it doesn't really seem like it is "poo".

Sounds to me like the "moisture" from breeding, and dirt combined. As long as it is not blocking the vent....shouldn't be a problem.
