We were at the farmers market the other day and I joking said we better make sure no one has dropped off a duck! (I was there the week before and there were no domestic ducks.) Well guess what? There was a Pekin swimming around! I went over and it look like a female because there was no drake tail. I had a tiny piece of bread and it came right up to me! I grabbed it and then I heard the “drake quack” oh well. My boyfriend was worried and said “get in the car it’s a misdemeanor to steal ducks”. I explained that he didn’t belong there and that someone must have dropped him off :( anyway his name is Misdemeanor -Meanie for short and he is the sweetest boy. Unfortunately his wings are CLIPPED, even the tail feathers! So he has adjusted with our flock and I’m very happy he gets to be with us!

It doesn't look to me like his wings are clipped to me. There wouldn't be any point in doing it anyways, Pekins can't fly.
Good job on rescuing him! I'm glad he's doing well in your flock!

Exactly! Why clip the wings when they can’t fly?! When he opens his wings you can see they are clipped.

people who clip a pekins wing don’t have much experience with ducks so that would make total sense they would dump him people are stupid
I know. I’m worried about what April will bring. We have a tractor supply/Wilco that sell unsexed ducklings since there are a lot of farms/Ag on the outside of town like where we live.

He looks pretty healthy too...
Yes! I’m wondering if with COVID something happened and they just couldn’t take care of him anymore and they thought droooing him off was the best thing for him.
