Discolored Egg

I have one of my 6 Isa's laying eggs that look like this. The dark brown part is very thin while the rest of the eggshell is normal.
on occasion, the dark area is hollow as well.
Is there something I can do to help her?
They all have egg layer pellets, grit, oyster shells, and plenty of fresh water. they also free range a few times a week.

Not every egg comes out right. Pigment changes as the season progresses. Shells get thinner as hens run out of reserve calcium. They also can have occasional glitches. Some can be caused by things like decreased water consumption, and various things they eat. Some mild respiratory problems too can affect an eggs appearance for a while. Most problems clear up after a bit.

How old is she an is this her first laying season or not? Sometimes it takes the reproductive tract a while to make the eggs correctly. It's a very complicated process. If she was laying normal eggs and then started laying abnormal ones, it might be a problem in the oviduct, like an area where the shell glands are not performing properly. Sometimes it's an infection or a scar. I have a few chickens that lay oddly colored/ patterned shells (like half dark brown and half light brown, or half blue and half olive in my olive eggers) but the shell itself is normal.

Is this hen is a new layer or not? I've had a couple of hens lay empty eggs that would sink in when pressed as beginner layers. But that's been about twice on 2 different hens. Then I also had one hen lay a tiny egg no bigger than a doves egg. In all these cases the hen had not laid many eggs yet and soon went on to lay normal large sizes. I hope that helps. Good luck.

A friend was very excited over some odd eggs she was getting. She told me over the phone she was getting eggs with a cameo design and wanted me to come see them. I was excited to hear that and rushed down the road to see them. It turned out that she had about what you are describing. I wasn't impressed but kept it to myself. But I asked her where the cameo was. She pointed it out and sure enough it could pass for a cameo only using an imagination. But they were blends of 2 colors. She had about 3 and felt it was her new hens.
