Discouraging Broodieness?

Making your hens lay in their nesting box can be tricky. If you have a decent size coop/run keep them in there all morning or at least until all your girls have laid. Once they are done you can free-range.

I have three options and the second one works better for me.
1. Put them in a cage that has bars on the bottom, and is hanging or something, so that air gets through the bottom.
2. Dip them in water from their feet to about halfway up their body and hold them in there for a bit every day. (only on warm days)
3. Lock them out of the coop and only let them in your yard so they can't sit in their warm brooding area.
