DiscoverCard changed due date on account so I was late?

Credit card companies today are pulling all sorts of things that aren't right.

Call and talk to the first person who answers the Customer Service number. She will tell you "There's nothing I can do.....it's in the agreement....blah, blah, blah" Thank her for her efforts and then ask to talk to a supervisor. She'll tell you "there's nothing they can do either". Say "I understand. Please let me talk to your supervisor". Continue this tactic - saying nothing else. By the time you get to the third supervisor - the supervisor's supervisor. They will do it. If not, ask for the name and phone number of the CEO. I promise you they will set your interest rate back to what it was and refund the late fee.

I used to manage a credit card division of a large bank many years ago. They are all trained the same way, to say the same things. But they all know if you keep insisting on going up that ladder, they better do something before it reaches the CEO's office.

Just calmly state your case, "been a customer a long time...always paid on time....automatic payments...you moved the date... not my fault.........let me talk to your supervisor." Take down the name of each person you talk to along the way and use them in the conversation. For ex: "I'm documenting this conversation so I want to be sure I got your name correct. You are Ms. Jones? May I have your first name please? And your title is????" Trust me, Ms. Jones, the supervisor's supervisor does NOT want a letter to the CEO showing up with her name on it and complaining that she would not help you when they are in the wrong.
