Dishonest NPIP breeder

Quote:
NPIP does not make them a show judge or an athurority on chickens, it just means that they test for the dieses and such and that they are suppose to know what the test results show.

From what I understand the auctions around here do not require any sellers to be certified. Just show up that day and put your animals in line for the evening auction. I don't like
to go the the local auctions as I really don't like the way the animals and birds are handled. I would suspect that most of the big known hatcheries are certified but at the auctions in
Florida you don't know where the birds came in from or where they were hatched. You don't deal with the seller but with the persons putting on the auction and they only look at
the dollars.

THANK YOU everyone for your opinions. I guess the best thing to do is just get the word out to the local FFA and 4H kids not to buy from that farm.

We have a place thats the same way here. No certification required. I went one time on several chicks that were supposed to be straight run and all but one turned out to be roosters. I then later find out that someone else had bought chicks from the same seller and the same thing happened to him. I'm told that he sexes the birds then sells the extra roosters as straight run

That's just plain dirty. I hate when people are dishonest about the sex of their chickens. I recently bought some cuckoo maran bitties from an auction as straight run and they are mostly starting to look like roosters. I will no longer be purchasing from there, you just never know exactly where most of the birds come from :( It's too risky.
