Hi

Just to be safe from the disease that killed my other hens, can I disinfect the run area and coop with vineagar/bleach/water?
If not what else can I use>

How did that happen? Listening to more answers, maybe I need to disinfect run.

I use beach and water and then finish off w/dawn and water, but only coop.

IDK
My hens would just seem to fluff up and fall down on their crops, and lay there. When I stood them up, theyd fall back down. IDK what was wrong. I was thinking Cocci?

Maybe you should try and work out why your other chickens died in the first place. Whatever they had may have an incubation time for whatever it is . That way when introducing new chickens it gives them a chance to survive. Agriculture lime or sand in the run is good to stop micros

I'm going with Max on this one. Whatever caused that isn't a problem in the coop. it's bigger than that.

Do you want to try to solve the mystery? I'm game if you are.

If so, we could start by you please answering the questions in the second sticky from this forum - but answering the questions into here. I'll probably ask you a gazillion questions thereafter.

But the more input of information from you we have, the better we can work with you to help brainstorm your flock's problem.

Disinfecting will do no good if it was something like mycotoxins, diet issues, mites, etc.

So are you up for it?

For disinfecting, I have read that you must use both bleach and ammonia, unless you buy a commercial product like Oxine. Since these cannot be mixed, we are talking about two separate processes, and removing the first before using the second.

Monkeyzero, I'd suggest you start another thread if you want to sort this out, or at least respond to threehorses.
