I’m looking at converting my chicken yard to be used by exotic birds. I’m concerned about disease as it’s just a compost pile for a floor, filled with droppings. Is there a proper way to disinfect it so other bird species aren’t affected? Thanks!

You can shovel it out, and then add clean bedding. What birds will you be adding, and did your chickens have any issues?
Mycoplasma takes three weeks or so to be gone after all infected birds are culled. Marek's disease lasts years, but it's a chicken problem.
A concrete floor can be really cleaned and then disinfected, but dirt, not really.

I had to let go of my chickens last year, but I'm going to be getting new ones this spring. So I also need to disinfect. What I did is dig up the dirt and mix it around, and I've added a bunch of compost stuff (leaves, grass clippings, garden stuff) on top to decompose over winter.
