disinfecting galvanized waterer

We seem to always have our waterer get to stinking no matter how often we clean it. I would use bleach but I don't know what the bleach would do to the galvanization.
Any ideas?

Don't leave it soaking and it'll be OK. About a tablespoon to the gallon of water will suffice.
