Disney + LucasFilm....

the Walt Disney Company isn't just the "Disney" family movies. They are also Touchstone. CastleRock. A piece of Pixar. BuenaVista Pictures. ABC - don't think that Desperate Housewives counts as "kid friendly" lol

The only concern I see is that they are further dominating the media field.

Disney isn't stupid. They aren't going to mess with a good thing. They bought Marvel and people freaked out. Now there's Marvel Studios granting creative control of film and television adaptations to the comic company rather than having to deal with Fox or Sony making changes to the stories.
They've been the leaders and innovators in animatronics and animation for years, so ILM isn't likely to get worse. They have top end animatronics in their parks and are constantly developing better technology for it, and translating that to film could mean more practical effects instead of CGI. If they do pursue CGI, they have production teams that can create fantastic digital work that won't stick out like a sore thumb.

Disney made a purchase that will net them more money. They aren't going to run out and kill a golden egg laying goose.

:thumbsup Well said. I don't think we need to worry too much about the quality of the new trilogy.

Edit: And George Lucas isn't running the show any more. I know some people have hated everything he's done to Star Wars since the original trilogy ended.
