Disney movies

i am 22 and guilty of liking zach and cody and hannah montana. nickoldean (yes i can't spell lol) sucks. it always has even when i was a kid. lol. i hate that the "newer" disney stars redo the music from my favorite disney movies. Beauty and the Beast is my favorite, well one of them. i always cry!!!!!!!!!!! Little Mermaid is my all time favorite and i cry too lol. Lion King as well. tear jerker!!! i do like Finding Nemo and the Toy Story movies too

oh and i also really hate when they like make sequals or prequals to movies and the characters voices aren't the same lol along with making sequals and using new actors to play roles that a previous one did. you can't do that. ruins the movie!!!!!

As the mother of 2 pre-teen girls, if given an option, I will take Disney Channel over Nickelodeon any day. I make it a point to watch everything my kids watch, so that I am fully aware of what they are seeing, learning, feeling, etc. So far, the only show that I really don't care for, and kid of have a few issues with, is Jonas. I don't like the whole premise. Thankfully, neither do my kids! They're kind of past the whole Hannah Montana thing, and are mostly into watching Wizards of Waverly Place and a few other shows. But Nickelodeon, I don't like most of their shows, especially when I was watching an episode one night and I actually heard a swear word!

I couldn't stand that Naked Brothers Band show, and my younger daughter was obsessed with it. It made me sick how such a young boy was constantly fawning over a girl. I didn't like the message it sent, and I made the kids stop watching it. I also didn't like Zoey 101. And it just made matters worse when little Miss Spears went and got her teenage self pregnant in real life. What the heck kind of role model is that?! The stars on Disney, for the most part, are still more wholesome, and most have a good head on their shoulders. If you watch the channel long enough you will see that they sneak in little tidbits of education with little 5 minute bits like Pass the Plate where they briefly talk about foods from other countries, or recently the kids have talked about Earth Day, recycling, and encouraging kids all over the world to pitch in to help their environment. I LIKE those kinds of messages. If you over analyze the Disney movies from an adult perspective, you are sure to find flaws, but through the eyes of a child, they just don't view things like we do. If you ask my daughters about High School Musical, they will tell you Sharpay is mean, but mostly they love the movies for the music, not the message, which in truth, is really about a young man who discovers a different path that he likes, and decides to take a chance. How is that bad? I like Disney, and I'm ok with my kids watching most of the shows on it. But my kids are well rounded, and you'd be surprised what they like to watch. My younger daughter likes to watch Criminal Minds with me, and the various CSI's, as well as Mystery Diagnosis, and my older daughter likes some of the dramas that appear on tv. She'd rather read a book than watch tv anyway. She's 11 and reads at almost college level, so I'm pretty sure Disney Channel isn't warping her brain, lol! Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but I stand by Disney Channel.

Oh geez I'm old. I've never seen Aladdin, Beauty n the Beast, Mermaid, or even Shrek.

Disney was on Sunday evening. Walt Disney himself would introduce what was coming on that night. Anybody remember the tiger cubs on his desk?

Goofy Driving the Car, how he changed personalities once he got behind the wheel.

Mickey and Pluto putting up the Christmas tree only to find Chip and Dale had made it their home.

Davey Crocket

Nature films, flowers opening, leaves changing colors all in a matter of minutes. Lobo the Lone Wolf. Bear Cubs

Scarecrow of Romeni Marsh--another version of Robin Hood, he was actually the parish priest!

Song of the South--It's not be put on DVD yet. Can't find it on VHS Zippity Doo Dah!

Justin Morgan Had a Horse

Dang I'm old

I'm no fan of political correctness gone amuck, but we own Song of the South and it is too much for me. It's certainly not as bad as some Betty Boop cartoons we have, though. The world was a playground for xenophobes back then, I suppose. Sunflower the Centaur, anyone?

My beef with Disney is how they keep their greedy talons clasped around their works, out of the public's reach. If Sonny Bono were alive today, I'd kick him in the shins for the copyright terms extension act. Jerk.

Oh I am old right there with you. YES!! I remember Sunday night Wonderful World of Disney! Even if it were summer we scampered home to see the Sunday night movie. Us kids would lay on the floor in front of the TV and Mom and Dad sat behind us. It was family time and a great way to wind down the weekend. A lot of the movies shown at that time were black and white. We loved them anyway.

My mother has a basic cable package where she only gets 15 channels, the weather channel is one she will just sit and watch it when nothing else is on!

Yeah...
Somehow I get sucked into the weather channel when over at my inlaws. My FIL watches it hours on end and somehow I blink and 2 hrs has gone by.

Weird.

My husband will check the weather on the inter net 4 times a day or more! He will say well its going to rain, I just smile and say look out the window dear, its raining!! I guess the weather is just not a big deal to me. It will be what it will be anyway. It matters a little more during camping season but we have camped in the rain many times.
