Displayed leg??

Well great news everyone! I just went to check on her. Her comb is no longer purple. I took her out of her basket and she walked 8 steps!!

She was even pecking at the carpet and stuff.

This really doesn't sound like a leg injury to me unless I am picturing the situation wrong.

It sounds like she might be exhibiting similar symptoms to what happened to a Royal Palm Hen of mine. Her legs were just dead and she had no injury. I had to use her legs as props in the same way.

I have had a pullet do the same thing and in both cases their faces darkened to a purple color too. They never died from whatever it was but I eventually culled because after weeks and weeks, their legs stiffened up to where they couldn't even sit upright.

Sorry if that is upsetting. I only bring it up because I seriously think there is something to this. An unrecognized ailment.

She walked those eight steps normally? or with difficulty? That's great to hear!!!

Hopefully she continues recovering!

I agree with MacCana that she could have slipped a tendon out of place. But I do think she needs to be confined. How long has she been away from the flock? You can keep a bird away for several days and the flock doesn't forget.

If she goes back to eating and drinking normally, then you can put her back into the flock. If she is not eating or drinking, I would keep her inside as this not only means something is wrong, but she could get cold out in the coop in a cage by herself.

So we have to figure out why she hasn't been eating much.

Definitely do the egg binding check. This could be the problem, or not. But we need to rule it out. So please go do that now. :)

I am certainly glad she is walking!!! Yay!!!! But as JJSS has mentioned about their birds, there could be something going on here with her legs as well.

Keep us posted!!!

Yes please keep us posted, this sounds eerily similar to my problem. And if you rule out egg-binding then I am even more intrigued because my hen/pullet were not yet to the point of lay when it occured

Mountain Peeps and JJSS, could this have been a brain seizure of some sort? Just throwing this out there for some ideas.

She is at that age that things can go wrong. If this does happen again and you think it is a seizure, I might have something that will help her. I had a lovebird that had seizures once a week and I was able to get them down to once a month with vinegar.

Keep us posted!! If she is cold, keep her inside tonight. If she is eating, you can let her stay outside, but I would keep her confined for a few days so she doesn't reinjure herself or have another episode. :)
