My trash can has a lid.
My trash bags can be tied off.
I am NOT putting a raccoon in my freezer.
If you have flies coming in your door from your trash can I would recommend moving the trash can, shutting the lid of the trash can and bagging your trash.
I still say...
G-R-O-S-S
I do bag all my trash, thank you very much.
My trash can has a lid too. Again thanks for suggesting that I have a trash pile right outside my front door. In fact I put one of those poisoned pest strip fly killers things inside my tash can and watch the flies pile up in the bottom.
Apparently you underestimate either one or both:
1) a flies ability to get in a VERY tiny crack (do they sell airtight trash cans nowadays? not at my
Wal-Mart)
2) the ability of something dead (including the meat package from a dead animal) to stink through a plastic bag - especially after sitting in the 100 degree sun for a few days.
The trash can is around the corner of the garage so it's not in my front door, but flies....um, FLY. I really don't want to drag it all the way out to the far edge of the back yard and then back up to the street four times a week.
Believe me, for some people the freezer really is a good option!
