Disposing of the innards

We burn them, bury them, feed some to the chickens

and the dogs. The only thing we ever have to dispose of are the feathers and the intestines.

I throw them in the "bleed out tub" and take them on an old back road. I'll set it there for the foxes and coyotes. It's never been there more than two days without being totally cleaned out.

Bag 'em and trash them. If it is real hot, and the trash doesn't run for a few days I drop them in the freezer till trash morning.

I would never feed them to my dog. That is just training her for a taste of chicken. I won't even feed her chicken dog food.

And leaving it out for coyotes and foxes is an invitation to dinner in my hen house.

I haven't killed any of my birds yet, but when I do, I plan to use the Salatin system of composting. Coyotes, rats, and such may get some of it, but it won't be because I intended them to.

All my animals eat chicken....cooked!!!...

dogs and cats (raw liver and meat pcs)

ducks and chickens (hard boiled duck eggs and shells...one or two times a week)...

The only ones that I don't give it to is my horses...they already eat very well.

Have A Great Day Everyone...Off for now... getting back to the gardening....
