Any suggestions on the distance I should keep coop/run from my house...talking about approx 20 chickens and summer coming up. I currently have 10 chickens in a coop / run approx 60 feet from my house but am thinking about converting a shed that is approx 75 feet from my house into another coop and adding 10 more chickens...just concerned with smell in the summer but want to be able to see chickens from my house.

I think the smell would depend on how clean the coop/run is. Flies can be a problem though...I am debating the same issue, but I too want to see them from the house

I am in the process of deciding this myself. I have decided to put mine actually rather close to the house (40ft). I am thinking with the winters or a really rainy day we will want it closer that farther to collect eggs and clean the coop.

We live on 2 acres, one corner of the acreage is our chicken coop, house in middle and the horse barn is almost in the opposite corner. In the winter time is when it's the biggest issue, we have no power out at the coop so we run extension cords out there and use the hose in the summer but during the winter I haul 5 gallon buckets of water out. Soo if you've got water/power out at your larger shed, I'd use that.

my husband's thoughts exactly, although with a 5 acre backyard, Id like to spread out! He is putting our coop on skids, so we can move it around with the tractor if I change my mind about where I want things....I think hes tired of moving pens and no longer believes me when I say Im sure thats where I want it.

I'm just getting back into chickens after, well let's just say it's been a looong time. Downwind was the deciding factor on coop placement here. When I finally find where I stashed the cable for my camera
