I am wondering what distance is needed for the roosting bar to the wall for jumping clearance.
I have a Buff Orpington, Black Astrolop and Plymouth Barred Rock.

Distance of roost from wall is usually best kept about 12", maybe up to 18" fora cock/erels tail.
On the other side of roost there should a landing area, same distance from wall as roost is from floor.

Not sure what you mean by jumping clearance? Mine are 12" out. I've got poop boards under mine. Keep the poop on the boards not on the wall

Do you mean from roost to wall, or roost to landing on ground?

Roost to wall, at least 12". Roost to landing, depends on how high up the roost is... as a general rule, however high up the roost is, is how much space needs to be in front to safely land.

Mine launch from the roost instead of going down stairs.

My Australorp land about 4' out from the roost while my Brahma uses the entire 9' available. There are a few who just carefully drop down within the 2' one would expect since that is how high the roosts are but most use more space.
