It finally snowed here. So I went up to let my new chickens out of their house. It was SO funny to watch them experience their first snow.
Some totally freaked out.
One took off flying and just missed hitting me in the head as it flew by me! Then I heard the heavy flapping of my turkey and I ducked!
There was a lot of noise going on over the snow but it was funny!
 
It's fun every year to see how the new ones react to snow isn't it. I do like how some of them just stand in the doorways and complain. Most seem to think it is our fault that that white stuff is covering everything, especially if their flying or jumping lands them in a snow drift. Flying turkeys sure would be something to keep an eye out for though.
 
We built our coop inside of an old barn so once they get out of the coop they are still in the barn.. Last winter a barred rock flew out of the barn and landed in snow and just stood their freaked out until i went out, picked her up, and took her back to the barn.. She waited for the snow to melt before going out again
