Dixie Chicks

I have a ferret names coco, silver bells passed away last year he was my white ferret..I'll send a pic of coco later :)
This is the key part to remember....as an egg ages, the blood spot becomes paler......most eggs purchased at most stores are not fresh eggs. People who have never seen a blood spot have probably bought eggs at stores whose eggs aren't as fresh as yours....and that spot may have just faded away before the egg made it to the store. Do you know how old some eggs are that are sold in stores? There is a reason that the "fresh date stamp" became a sales pitch for some egg brands.
I'm assuming you're talking about the dried ones. Make sure they have grit to help them grind them up.
yep dried ones..awesome yeah have chick grit for the babys..they get a lil bit everyday..big chicks all have free feed grit and oyster shell in the henhouse..though they probly dont need the grit my soil is soooo sandy

and about the egg spots or blood spots in the eggs.. if dietary, or molting, which are temporary issues but if it's hereditary that's perm issue.. with old age blood spotting in the egg.. is this something that happens with every egg or does it progress as the chicken gets older and older ect?

you said it, what does that say about me.....I love you all, yes even that obnoxious bloody mutt

kewl I couldnt rememebr about barley if it was ok or not yes barley has a bit more of a mess with it to get it sprouting if I recall right... anyways I got this sunflower seed will try to sprout it and see what the birds think...it doesnt look like they touched the sunflower seeds in the pan tonight..but they were alll over the kale, arugula and other greens and pears..oh and the meal worms

Jem,
I went out this afternoon and got a few pictures of the girls. They all have names but with so many I can't remember who's who without my list! lol
I tried to get some pictures from in the corner of the run so I could get a bunch, but one by one they came up and surrounded me in my corner. So I had to move.
A couple posed. but when the curiousity was met the left me for the mel worms and fresh leaves I had given them earlier!

Leghorn at the water cooler.
Note: I put Foil/bubble wrap insulation around the top of this waterer outside to help keep it from freezing on the top and sides. And it Works! Even in single digit temps no ice on the water! This morning was 4F. Last year even though I used cookie tin heaters and had the waterer in the coop, the top and sides froze terrible. This year with so many more hens I put this waterer out side to keep humidity out of the coop. Inside I have a bucket waterer I insulated heated with heat tape and a cookie tin heater. Closed system no humidity no ice! Win! Win!

Last but not least my 2 silkies who are broody (in the coop) again. The littler on on the right is extra protective thi time round. won't let me touch her without peckin at me. But it's not too hard of pecks.

I was thinking I could sprout some millet but I think that would just attract all the wild finches..and I dont wanna attract the wildbird life especially right now with the whole avian flu thing going on here

awesome chickies!! thanks so much for sharing so much fun seeing everyones chickens
