I feel ya!

I had to learn to cook on my own. In my 20s, I told a lady I used to babysit for that I can't even make instant mashed potatoes! She said, "Do you measure?" Uhhhh, What? LOL!
I do now and things are thankfully much better. We all look like we could skip a weeks worth of good eating!! But I had to learn it on my own because mom can't even heat up frozen fish sticks!!!

Mom could burn the same pot of beans twice.... The key is when you transfer them to the next pot dont scrape with the spoon.

Burned beans are nasty smelling. I started learning to cook out of survival when I was in Highschool.... only shows on tV back then were Graham Kerr and Julia Childs... I did pretty good. I even made Hollendaise sauce the old fashioned way...
Never Thought of buying a cook book....

Mom had an old Betty Crocker and it was FULL of useful info.

BC, My chickens are older than 8 weeks..... And they still aren't laying. ;)

Oh... Remember iffy chick? I was thinking it might make it... But last night it wouldn't eat... And again this morning it wouldn't eat... And I was thinking that the iffy navel had healed well enough that it really should be getting better not worse..... AND

(Insert drum roll)

The chuck had no hole to poop out of! Everything was where it should be, but the skin made a solid sheet over where the cloaca hole is supposed to be!

I said, huh, that explains things... If you can't ever poop you are gonna go down hill..

So, I took it outside and sliced its head off.

No poop hole... Sorry Alaskan. Was this chick just a few days old?

Patience isn't our strong side.

Speaking about patience, I found something rare. A used brinsea incubator. The whole package, everything you might need including automatic humidity. Was probably used 2-3 times this year. It's not big enough for the original buyer. It fits 48 medium sized eggs, which is a huge step up from "fits 7 medium eggs". Figuring out shipping and its mine!

Grab it quick!! lol... :D

Yep.. Iffy chick hatched... Was it Friday? So yep... It hatched with the iffy navel... But it looked pretty good... At first it ate and drank, and I have had iffy navels still make it just fine.... But anyway.. Wild, a first for me.

Yeah, patience is not so great...

I just sold off some more old chickens. :D Except now my egg production rate is going way down, and all of the growing up chicks are still growing up... And not laying yet! Man! It is gonna suck if I can't fill orders!

I feel like standing out in the yard and yelling out like a drill Sargent... Something about how they need to produce.

After all of this waiting, you will have to post a photo of tour first egg.
