Dixie Chicks

Mama broody was very good to dumb chick. I told DW we should put the chick with mom when it hatched, we didn't and waited a four days, nope hatched four days after she hatched the two and waited four or five more days. Momma snap dragon tried like crazy to adopt the chick all day, dumb little bugger just wanted to escape, or try to. I was hoping it would see it's four day older siblings and think cool, more like me, it would not conform! Later that day the kids brought it back inside, guess it is a human

Maybe we can try again when it is a little more active.......The meanie mom is a good broody, fluffs up her feathers, hides her chicks and bites me every time I put food and water into their cage Lol!
She's faster than me. Kinda sucks though, she was my best layer, and laid nice olive eggs, not getting very many eggs lately, just as the price of eggs has skyrocketed here. Silkies are laying more than my leghorns, and their eggs are tiny....

Night all, beers cold and yummy....

Wow! Plague is fun and exciting.

Plague and tree branches falling... Two kids under sixteen were sleeping in a tent... Oak branch cracked off the tree they were under... killed em instantly.

Yep Plague is something the squirrels carry about. Thats why they say not to eat Ground squirrel. they are plague carriers. not the squirrels but the fleas....

108 today... tonight it cooled off to 83 awesome... we expect closer to 110 tomorrow. Funny thing is... the hot air is coming from the OCEAN... this is not right... not normal...

Godzilla here we come

Wow! I never would have guessed that an oak would have killed them  Horrid.

And yes... GODZILLA is coming...

Dang! I rememeber the antique godzilla crushing tokyo movies... But the name of the hero escapes me at presant.

Snakes....I don't mind a bit. There are only 3 venomous kinds around here. 2 have rattles on their tails, other is a copperhead. All others are considered non venomous. I've caught and released my fair share of snakes. They were literally slithering on the walls of our house when we bought it 3 years ago. Found a few blacksnakes back at the coop. One had hardcore evidence that it was an egg eater. I've chopped off a few heads too. That's when they stink the most

I was warned about placing an ad on CL for free kitten because some people love to feed kittens and puppies to their pet snakes.....???? What? I'm ok with wild snakes eating mice, rats, even the occasional chick (it happens). But I've got problems with someone intentionally keeping a snake confined, feeding it kittens and puppies. What has this world come to?

We put the kitten in a large dog crate on the outside coop area. It's covered and all. She seems super happy. She is one of those needy, lovey, pet me kind of kittens. Little girl loves that!

Poor kids that got killed by the branch. Hope the other recovers from the plague. Glad I don't live anywhere around there!

I'd better get a cup of coffee in me and get breakfast cooking. Have a good day!

@minihorse927 , Thanks, but no thanks on the phone #. Winchester is about an hour from me. A friend recommended a local clinic that will spay and shots for $35. I think that's really good and she takes her cats there (and she's picky).

Just saying that because I know she wouldn't take hers just anywhere. Thanks anyways!

@Outpost JWB I need a good snake in the barn for mouse control. Had a nice 5 foot black snake that has stayed in our barn for the last 4 summers but didn't show up this year. We are getting over run with mice. So if you have an extra just send it my way. lol!
