Beer, here babies tend to be put out on naps outside down to about 0F.
They do look like SS Lol, I think they might be the jubilee orps.AnA, oh, I thought they were slightly older SS in the banner pic. What are they then?
I have many varieties of the breed English Orpingtons, Calico Cochin Bantams, Ameraucana, & Polish, I need to get ALL 60 chickens pictures up. We are down to 60. That is better than last year when we went into winter with over 200 and I had just had total left knee replacement. This winter I get to go into a total right knee replacement BUT with only 60 chickens. I have never been heavy. I had osteoarthritis and when the junkyard dogs knocked me down from the top of the stairs my bony knees never recovered. I just have tucked and rolled said one surgeon, another said I should have kept the laundry basket infront of me. Well if I had not gone over the top of that laundry basket knees first trying to fight the fall I guess I would have been OK. Now adays, I just throw the laundry down over the balcony. That seems even smarter.AnA, oh, I thought they were slightly older SS in the banner pic. What are they then?
I use the Alton Brown method for making jerky.
A box fan and air conditioner filters.
Works great and makes "real" jerky
sorry it is blurry
I know I need to get some good photos.
I bet that smoker of yours would make yummy jerky. I usually just add liquid smoke. I have a dehydrator, but there is a fine line between perfect and shoe leather. I usually shut it off, let it cool down early and test, sometimes throw them in gallon ziplocks to draw the moisture out, then go a little more if necessary. I prefer the oven on 150. Parents always made it above their wood stove, that made the best.
If I make some and hide it the kids immediately know when they walk inside cause of the liquid smoke smell, and go on the hunt for it Lol!

I use the oven on low which is about 150 degrees. Just promotes deyhdration.
