For me, fishing falls in the same category as bird watching. I just don't get it. Too slow paced. Even though hunting is pretty similar, I still find it a lot more interesting.

I bird watch in the sense that as I tromp past thru the snow...I see a bird, I click a pic of it. That's bird watching to moi...not standing still freezing with a pair of binoculars hung round the neck hoping something drops out of the sky besides poo.

Male Bluebird

Evening Grosbeaks

Barn Swallow

Rose Breasted Grosbeak (Pheucticus ludovicianus)

Grouse

Common Redpoll-genus Acanthis

Pine Grosbeaks (Pinicola enucleator)

I like these birds because in NONE of these situations...do I hafta look after them the way the domestics & captive wilds have to be looked after. I don't have to haul them water (snow eats), I don't have to chip ice outta frozen rubber pails...I don't really have to clean up after them, put out bedding and filling a few seed dispensers gives me a moment to catch my breath on the way back to the house to put the dogs in (frozen toes...delicate princesses after it exceeds -25C)...

Add beer and it becomes a relaxing fun time, and much cheaper than buying frozen Chinese farm fish....

I agree with BC...the beer part is a key component in many sports one enjoys with plenty of TIME on yer hands ...

Add in a plunger and I am rolling in the ice and snow laughing...joy, giddiness, and laughter makes time fly by--GOOD TIMES!

tickle-tease of BamBam is humorous but I love those dogs

I have a thing for them since I have 7

Max I have had all at one time is five ACD's...

Even using two brace chains left one dog on a lead of its own. My two arms were real busy...bit of a train wreck but we mostly stayed on the place...free to roam without restraints, eh.

The two new ACD pups seem often joined at the hip...

On a brace chain, I got me a whole free arm to enjoy should I need to.

Cletus and Billy Bob are out in their row boat fishing on a lake for catfish one day... They've been fishing since dawn and haven't gotten so much as a bite in four hours. Then Cletus feels a sharp tug on his line, and for the next ten minutes proceeds to pull in a huge fish. When Cletus finally pulls the fish out of the water, he sees it is the ugliest catfish he has ever seen. Much to his and Billy Bob's shock, the catfish speaks. "I am a magical catfish," the fish says, "and if you will let me go, I will grant you one wish." Cletus eagerly frees the magical catfish from the hook and releases him back into the water, and says, "I wish the whole lake would turn into Budweiser!" There is a load clap of thunder as the fish disappears under the water and then miraculously, all the entire lake turns into beer! Billy Bob grabs an oar and smacks Cletus on the head. "What'd you do that for?" yells Cletus at Billy Bob, "I just turned the lake into beer!" "Yes, you idiot," replies Billy Bob, "but now we'll have to pee in the boat!"

Tara, I don't mind taking pictures of the birds, and I must admit I got bit excited when I saw a black woodpecker today, but when people line up with their binoculars for hours just to get a peek of a bird, I really don't understand it. I mean they don't even take pictures. What's the point?

This movie (comedy) might explain it...some of it is ego and competition that drives it along.

I mean I don't quite get it either and when some of the birds in the movie, I drive past quite often (the last bird I think one of them is an owl...seen them SO often...boring!)...could have been the movie was produced by doofuses that don't KNOW the sport of bird watching but no matter.

Others would say to you, "Why raise birds and bunnies when you can buy the outputs!" Yeh, don't get it DO they...and most don't even deserve an explanation, even!

I would say they in part are pretty harmless AND they are all about saving and protecting Nature, so that in itself is good...plus puts $$ into some economies in outward places too.

The movie had me wondering how many I could put on a list if I was keeping track and all...hee hee...

I use 19x19mm stucco wire, and it works fine for me. But it seems to have pretty well done joints, of course the edges from where you cut it are sharp, but I try to get those on the outside. For the top of a run, you can't go wrong with a solid roof =) Just costs a bit much in larger applications.

Tara, your predators make me sweat. I'm glad all we have to worry about are chicken hawks and dachshunds.

Glad Shelby is coming home, hope she recovers quickly. Monitor her temps and make sure she eats, drinks and poops.
Does the wire come in different qualities?
