Dixie Chicks

was looking for a wine barrel to use as a container garden they wanted like 150 bucks for half a barrel...hmmm but those barrels are usually oak if I recall right

Check ebay, and google. I've seen whole used once still usable ones for that. Was looking for one to age hard apple cider. And yeah oak.
The ones bourbon distilleries use are one time use, then get sent to Canada for their whiskey, some are available here for beer breweries and wineries.

metals not a option for me lil beyond my skill set and not to interested in learning it...I was thinking like a 4 foot tall box... I thought if I used cedar tongue n grove the cedar of the walls might add a bit of flavor...and the tongue and groves would help keep it airtight with whtever venting or whatever might be added......50 at a stack of bricks and stuff he was gonna build one back in maryland but since we are selling that house it's not a project thats going to happen there...

Really no skill required , the lid end is up , the bottom just needs a hole cut into it for the heat and smoke to come through ......elevate it with cinder blocks or pour a cement round base to set it on , run the smoke pipe into it ........I just drilled a few holes for rebar to slid through about four inchs below the top rim , lay a couple of bars across the top , cover with a piece of plywood , the lid ? burlap works really well as it allows the smoke to slowly leave ......sounds a bit redneck but they work fantastic
