just rearranging... OK me and him are in full battle gear now... soo here's my thought how are the chickens gonna get onto the roost??? will they go between the perchs onto them?

the problem is... do I leave more space where the nesting box awning is to the first pirch? or will they beable to go between the perchs to get onto them? if I leave more room that means the first perch would be more then a foot tall......maybe 19 20 inchs up? is that too high?

I have see these done as a single canvas "catcher" for sloped roosts.... there is a thread on BYC about doing it....



here is how you clean it....



dump it in compost then if it needs it spritz with the hose other wise just put it back...

just saw post @perchie.girl ... hmm good idea with that ..am going to deal with poop board or whatever later just trying to figure these new arrangement of perchs for now... like the idea except it seems to involve alot of handling of poopy things..... I wonder if the chickens get into that canvas thing ?.....ok lights burning and rains paused got to try this ...might drive him nuts ...

Well the plus of the poop hammock is they don't really seem to walk on them because of the weird floppy surface s so they don't get poopy feet. But I'm in love with my poop boards because they pop out of the frame and I can dump them just as easily as you can dump the poop hammock no scraping well a little when it gets stuck just like with the poop hammock... But a plus of the poop board is it creates more square footage and if you dump it regularly they don't get very poopy feet.
Jem, unless you have a really massive old birds they won't have a problem jumping to the perches... The first level my birds have to get up to is about 2 feet then up to three feet (these are shelf or step levels) and then they have to jump another 2 feet from the step to get to the first set of purchase...

Dude those rooms change names the farther south you get. They are saying mud porch, my DW from Ohio (blah) calls them mud rooms, in TN we called them the utility room. They are all the same as far a I can tell.

See here a utility room would hold your water heater and water softener...
