Dixie Chicks

Good morning, @Outpost JWB

Still new here and having a hard time finding where I 'fit in'. Any idea where a misfit will feel welcome? ;)

You found a great spot... Some of us cause trouble though... Aka me

Hi, Amberjem, nice to meet you too. You live near my old stomping grounds, lol. Babies? I gots babies! :D

Mini Buttless Wonders!

Super cute

Yeah, I'm sure we had one pullet in the bunch, but she ended up having suicidal tendencies.

Lol...

I'm a bit worried. Karin mentioned something about keeping bunnies for meat, and I didn't immediately shoot down the idea. I'm afraid she's already planning a bunny hutch for our miniscule yard. They are tasty though.

Bunny poop multiplies faster than chicken poop

Butchering bunnies is much harder than chickens. I'm OK with hunting them though. Always wanted to raise Flemish Giants rabbits.
@Outpost JWB I have Brown Leghorns for the white eggs, I like them, pretty birds, just don't expect to catch them when they are loose their like road runners. I'm going to get rose comb ones next time, those big floppy combs look like frostbite catchers.
@RavynFallen Welcome to BYC! Sounds like you already have a chicken obsession, this place is bound to make it worse!

I had Flemish giants and Belgian hares

Hey...so can i join???

Come on in coffee is always on... Or tea if you like...

I need a good meatloaf recipe if you don't mind sharing!

Meatloaf is a great place to hide those chicken livers...

chicken liver is going to go into my dog treats... yuck! I have a really hard time finding chicken liver in stores here. There is commercial chicken butcher ~1 1/2 hours away from here and so not worth the drive.

Yeah I wouldn't drive very far to get chicken liver... I wouldn't drive anywhere to get liver. But I will use it when I butcher and I can hide it in a meatloaf... Five livers seems to be the limit before you can taste it.

I love chicken livers. Our grocery store sells them in pint and quart containers. I dredge them in flour and Cajun spices and fry in a little oil. Goes good with beer.
