I don't know how this works in the US.. but here in Canada when you purchase property you normally do not have the natural resource rights....unless there are some ancient rules still applying.

Yes, the company I work for is in the oil industry. Northern Alberta is oil country.

The good thing that many people predict out of this is that once prices go up: contracts will have to be renewed, so people will bid lower then previously in order to get new contracts. It will keep costs down.

Gas has finally come down to the point that you don't have to make life changing decisions at the pump. So what happens next.... They are getting ready to put more taxes on gas.

When a company pumps "trade secret" chemicals into the ground....it makes peoples tap water catch on fire...seriously...there are several youtube videos.
Im all for harvesting fossil fuels...but I bet our children and grandchildren will look at us as idiots for the way we harvest them..
Just saying...there has to be a better way

I was a NIMBY for the longest time, not in my backyard. Then I educated myself. It does sound terrible when you only hear the one side. We all put fuel in our cars and its ok with us if it isn't us drilling. There is even people in NY anti-windmill. I guarantee if oil was shut off tomorrow the same people would be pushing for a windmill on every mountain.
NY needs jobs, its stagnant. Natural gas would have created thousands of high paying jobs, and billions in revenue. Right now many NYers truck drivers travel to PA for work.
You know what our Gov. did to boosts jobs? He's allowing a few Casinos to be built. Wasn't supposed to be any in NY cause of a treaty with the Indians. I guess they must have agreed?
If I plan on throwing away some money I'll go to Turning Stone Casino owned by the Oneida Indian Nation. I'd rather throw my money away to them than for our Govt. to blow it. No tax on cigarettes there either.
