Dixie Chicks

Don't worry, when Jem returns from looking at the chickens with 20 more, you'll soon be wishing they didn't.
I've eaten smaller birds than what she has now

ok thought I would post my thoughts on chickens so far... So this whole chicken adventure is something else........I have learned there is vast amounts more to learn even if I have been researching all of this for the last three years heavily.......I thought I was prepared and realized there is soo much more to prepare for.......I have learned that the chickens are highly entertaining to me......... I wasnt exactly expecting that.......I just straight out enjoy the heck out of them..watching them feeding them waterering them, cleaning up after them all the chore stuff I thought would of course just be a pain well it's a pleasure cuz I enjoy it so much so it doesnt seem nearly so much of a chore........I am also glad I did take the time to heavily think research and plan for how to deal with maintenance and care and worked it out so it would be easier for me int he long run...........I have learned that not all chickens are created equal and not all chickens are horrible nasty mean things like my grandmother had........I also learned there are nicer ways of chicken keeping then how my grandmother did it.........ways that work for me work for the birds and even more ways for other ppl to do it that might suit themselves...I have learned alot by watching the chickens seeing how they interact and behave with each other...I have learned and expanded on bio-security within the flock for healthy livestock and coexistance with wildlife and humans...I still have no interest in white chickens or rir's and probly habor an opinion of them based on my experience which is prejudiced but I am comfy with that it's my preference noone elses...I have learned a ton of things in regards to how the chicken industry is run... I have learned while I am not crazy about the barred rock coloring the personality of the chicken appeals to me so far least from my experience with dotty....... she isnt a cuddily chicken but she sure is curious one... I have hatched and raised chicks now and have found it an enjoyable and very kewl learning experience..and I have also learned chicken ppl can be totally kewl...I have also learned that like with anything there are chicken politics, and I still dislike the whole drama that goes along with such mind sets.....I have learned I definitely not only prefere the peacomb as aposed to single comb both for looks and for hardiness n dealing with weather..........I am still learning bout the single comb and my climate area... all my big girls except spike have peacombs and spikes comb is super tiny......but my hatchlings most have single comb so I will learn from that......oh and I have learned how very different they are in how they do things like scratching round foraging ect..and much more I have learned but going to leave it at that for now...

Wow, that's a whole lotta thought.
Have you learned which came first - the chicken or the egg?
What do chickens and eggs have to do with one another?
I'm thinking the Winchester would make an appropriate backup gun for the pig hunt.

The egg came first. Very simple. At some point in the evolution, there was a mommy bird, and it's offspring, the mommy being some sort of chickenlike bird, but genetically not yet a chicken, while it's offspring was genetically a chicken. That chick came from an egg, and that egg came before the first chicken.

Jem, can't speak for everyone, but our birds have all first started by going into the nest a bit, for no apparent reason, and getting familiar with it. Also, they've followed the laying of other birds very closely. It was pretty cute.

Who was buying the defient solar light? I bought one that was a solar 180° motion security light. Led. It will last about six trips outside at night before it goes dead, it is usually dead. The solar panel is on top of my garage roof and gets all day sun. Waste of $
