Pickleback? Shot, cased by pickle juice.

Black Soldier Fly... They are an unobtrusive fly, short lifespan, compost chicken poop and kitchen waste, larvae are high protein food source for chickens, and they emit a pheromone (I guess) that deters house/deer/horse flies, mosquitoes and gnats...

Hmmm. I looked into implementing maggots into their feed one time. A lady I bought a chicken from takes the eggs that don't hatch after incubation and cracks them open over top of the chickens run area (screened in). The egg then attracts flies, lays maggots, the maggots come out of the egg and drop to the ground. Her chickens will leave food sitting in their bowls and sit and wait for the next maggot to drop. Oddly enough, I couldn't smell it either. And you know how bad a rotten egg smells, and maggots! EUCK!
The reason I decided against it was I read somewhere about the risks of botulism. Not worth the risk to me.

Good morning!:D

Will do!  I gotta get pics of my rabbits too.  We are up to 6  now.  The original breeding pair............OH MY!  We put them in a large crate together, since they had already sealed the deal on the way home.  And that buck would not let the doe get a minute of rest.   He dumped their food, flung the water bottle off the side, and was making such a racket!  I went and got a small crate to put her in so she could get some rest:th .  Poor thing!  They should say "Bow bow rabbit rabbit Bow Wow"  Instead of chicky!

So what's going on with Deb?  Her avatar is gone also?

That brings back memories of our meat rabbits when I was a kid, lol!! At least you know he's still young enough to go without Viagra! Would love to see pics of the fluffy bunnies...

No idea what's going on with Deb... She never responded to us... Don't know why her pic is gone...

Morning all. Anyone else busting ice and watering their birds in the dark before they go to work? I go on second shift next week so it'll be easier. Hopefully it warms up soon! Off to work.

BSF will eat maggots and they are not carriers of pathogens... the larvae/grubs are dry and climb out of the bin via a ramp into a collection bucket...

Hope your day goes quick and smooth at work. Keep all that ice and snow away from here!

Hmm, the morning got a bit away from me. Time for breakfast at 12:45.

If you don't hear from me, I've had a heart attack. Rye bread with bacon, emmental and fried egg, all fried in butter and bacon fat.
