Dixie Chicks

As much as I love the idea of having a new house by fall I can only look at floor plans for so long. But it's fun, I wish we could jump ahead by 6 months just to see where we are. Patience is so hard!!

Our cottage has a bit of history to it. My plan is to list it on infomall (like kijiji, but local just for our area), see if someone wants it. If no one wants it within a month, "Hello Fire Department!" They occasionally do controlled burns as practise.
patience was three years of looking and waiting and waiting and looking n waiting n looking lol

! One of my favorite movies! Cute chick too!

@NotAFarm Check out my link at the bottom of my signature for my bucket water/heater. -7 low and no freeze up. You could use a birdbath heater instead of the pipe heater like mine. The I decided against the fish tank heater because they burn up because their internal thermostat tries to keep the water warm enough for tropical fish and is on all the time in frigid temps. I decided against the birdbath heater because the ones I've seen are made for concrete anyway they get warm enough I was afraid of them in the plastic bucket. They also use a lot more watts. Ones we saw was 500 to 1500 watts. My pipe heater is 18 watts and cookie tin heater is 40 watts. And my outside cookie tin heater for my regular waterer is 25, 40 or 60 watts depending on how cold it is. I only put the 60 watt bulb in the other day for the sub zero temps. Working well with a little freeze up only overnight.

@BriardChickens Good luck on the builder!

It' sounds so exciting having a new build!

@perchie.girl Nice drawing!

@hennible Nice new avi!

Just made a pot of Homemade Cream of Potato Soup. Yumm!

Stay warm everyone! Seems like the entire North America is Cold, Colder or Coldest!

Umm....not sure...it is a small 7 W heater my DH wasn't using. It has a rubber disc that is meant to be buried in the gravel of a small aquarium. I don't think it will be big enough for the brutal cold but might work for night time temps that are borderline.
I dont think I have seen that type of heater but it doesnt sound like it's a glass one... what tank size does it heat?.. anyways in my greenhouse I have a 45 galloon tote filled with water and have a fish tank heater inside of it keeping the temp up to 80 to give some radiant heat to the greenhouse..it didnt freeze and stayed at temp when we dropped down to freezing here...wasnt lower then 20 though

Could you post a picture of it? I'm up for modifications if it means losing the cookie tin heater for not much more wattage.

My DH said he didn't think it would work....not for long anyways but he was going to pitch it so I claimed it.

Bon fire woohoo!! I'll bring the beer and shine!
Our fire departments do controled burns, good practice for the less experienced firemen and women. We only have volunteer fire departments around here, when I was a kid they would have brought the beer Lol. I don't think they do anymore with things getting so strict but there was a joke between our town and the neighboring one, "The Masonville boys put the fire out with their beer, Sidney Center fireman wont waste their beer they just piss on it!" Lol!
