Dixie Chicks

plus I also prefere a wider stock I have a rather long neck and many of them have me with my head cranked sideways to position it right...anyways I had picked up the one for skeet but I wasnt overly fond of it and let it find a new home.. I use @Sharps Big 50 field shotgun for trap but the ballance is very front barrel heavty and it makes me ajust my stance where I am stressing out my lumbar and lower back and not good when that area is already suffering from injury n other crud

I am about five foot seven... and more than three hundred pounds I am strong though.... I can lift a hundred and twenty pound bale of hay.... I just cant walk anywhere with it... My shooting will have to be from a seated position if at all though because my knees are gone.

Here's a weird one... I was walking around with one of my six week old chicks on my shoulder, little while later after I put the chick back, my ear was itchy... stuck my finger in my ear to scratch it and I found I had chicken poop in my ear... :/
Worst part was we had company...

Omg!!! I'm laughing so hard I fell off my couch! A small part of me is like eww.

Hello. I get to set up my bee hive! So excited...and get the bees first part of April. How about you? Your day looked fun!

perchie - look for an NRA class near you. Gun Clubs usually host them.

About all I find are pistol and rifle courses.... Will a rifle course be equivalent to shooting a shot gun? I am not so afraid of rifles but I dont own one for practice... Id have to rent one.

I do know the only gun club or range that allows shot guns is the one at the granite quarry.

The granite quarry NO shotgun classes there it appears

I know there are a few private ranges... there is one up in Jacumba/Boulevard area where My house is

Ok..... here is a map of the county... fhttp://www.p2krange.com/

First few pages after the map explain alot. I can shoot on myproperty as long as I am being safe.... I have eighteen acres. But I cannot shoot during Fire danger.... So that means EVER....

the map in my area

The white represents San diego County
the gray below the slanted line is Mexico
The dot is approximately two miles from the border My place

Here is a map of my land

The bushes you see are tall enough to hide people and even cars if they arent too shiny. My neighbor regularly shoots from his house across to my property .... He shoots a cap and ball pistol at targets hes set up. He also practices on the back side pointing toward Mexico with rifles and a shot gun.

Sam, found it. Yeah, basically like that, but a slightly less complicated build. I thought I'd skip insulating the bottom, the nipples would be the first thing to freeze anyway. But getting it insulated on all other sides would probably be good. Also, I think I would skip the filler hole, I can just have two lids with insulation in between.

ditto..... not reliable... only good if you need to "take the edge off"
So this is my DIY you're asking/talking about. Just a couple of things you should know. The way it's set up the nipples have not froze at all. I check it everyday and no freezing. Horizontal nipples don't freeze up as easily as vertical ones, but the water is warm enough on the inside to prevent the freezing and the ambient temp directly around the bottom cookie tin heater is just over freezing. The temp in my coop has been as low as -7oF. The pipe heater cable is only 18 watts and has thermostat and is not on continuously and the light bulb in the tin is 40 watts. It actually has been very good, a life saver. I also have a convential waterer out side with a cookie tin heater and the foil/bubble insulation wrapped aroud the water container part with a 40 watt bulb it was froze by morning in the tray part some but not the inside container part. The bucket indoors is closed but not sealed and lets no humidity in the coop. The girls do not rush me any more when I bring the fresh water out to them for the outdoor waterer, since they aren't thirsty from not getting enough water.

There is a Trap range here in Town in an Old granite quarry. I went by there to see about instruction and they didnt have any for shot guns.... Its the only range in town that allows shot guns.

The guy at the store tried to find me a sixteen guage.... but they were all gone. I was afraid there would be a ban on gun ownership so I bought the twelve gauge anyway.

I hear you can load them with light rounds that dont kick so hard.

My dad used to tell stories abut his dad and shotguns. Grandpa Dixon had a double barrel shot gun that was left handed... staggered triggers.... He had gone out to shoot a hawk on one of the power lines forgot about the triggers and let blast both barrels. when he got back up off the ground all that was left of the hawk was a single leg still gripping the wire. Grandpa was five foot six.... Maybe seven....

First...I posted this in the duck section but no responses yet, so I thought I would try here. Came home today and found my hen duck stuck on our electric fence. She just had her wing caught on it...the wire was under where the wing connects to body.
Brought her in, cleaned, put some iodine on the area and covered with Neosporin. She was very hungry and thirsty. Now is she sleeping wrapped in towels.
Is there anything else I should do? Honestly I'm surprised the fence didn't kill her....
