Dixie Chicks

I was reading something the other day about a worm wiggling in an egg.........the visual was ick...

also myth or fact dirty eggs can indicate the chickens have a higher worm count or is it just a untidy nest box?

Untidy.... and possibly muddy feet. Thats why many people use roll out nests... The eggs are away from the next hen who may have dirty feet it also discourages egg eaters.

10 month old red sex links. How much would you charge for them apiece if someone wanted to buy them? They are healthy, somewhat friendly, and good layers.

Someone stopped and wanted to buy them and other things. I have 6 and told him 50 bucks.... Does that sound about right for 6 pullets?

Sounds good to me they probably have eaten fifty bucks worth of food....

I was only able to nurse about two months.... He had trouble latching on. Because he was a Franks Breach his feet were up around his face and it messed with his jaw. I had to go to a Lactation specialist to find this out. So I pumped and used that in a bottle. Just to keep the milk going. But it was too late. I had to finally go to formula.

MY good friend Denise nursed till her daughters were almost three.

Oh well he got what he needed in the beginning.

wow my son had the same problem.............. I had to teach him how to latch on..by putting a pacifier in his mouth then tugging it out so he learned to latch on...I didnt even want to chance bottle feeding.. I am all of my brothers and sisters were allergic to formula..

Cute jem

Anybody want to weigh in on this? I need to move the seven week old chicks out to the coop, I could put them in the old coop which is further away from the house and not as well insulated or let's say it's not insulated at all... Or I could move some of the heartier adults to the old coop and slowly blend the seven week olds into the main coop by my house which has power and more insulation and a run....
Thoughts?

do you have a largish cage you can move all the chicks out to the new coop Put something on top so they dont get pooed on... then keep them there for a few days and open the cage just a little so they can come and go but the big birds cant get in.

Thats what I do for the Guineas....

Yep sometimes it's a lack of calcium sometimes it's a lack of protein sometimes it's a bad habit that you can't seem to break... Once someone accidentally breaks open an egg and they tasted they know what their missing

Edit to add I'm talking about egg eating
