My father in law grows hundreds of onions every year, orders them from Dixon farms http://www.dixondalefarms.com/ , great prices on bunches. Live plants definitely grow better then sets, much bigger. We usually get a couple bunches from him of yellow copra and red zeppelin. I'm going to try them multiplier ones this year from jung seeds or territorial seed.

I love Dixondale Farms!! They are high quality and great service. I'll be ordering the Long Day Sampler from them this year.

I'm thinking I'll wait for fall and get the multipliers here

I believe they generally know whats ok n not but that can also depend on their foraging habits n stuff as well......confined I think they will tend to go after whatever ........especially as they identify you are a good food source......I have noticed different foraging habits with these guys the two who were indoor barn raised..almost no foraging skills at first...the chickens brooded by a broody were much more savy and violet was majorly savy being a free ranger previously...they are quick to communicate and pick up new ways to do things from each other...

anyways readings I had done said they if confined are less likely to be indiscriminate eaters...

foraging birds in limited spaces will generally go after the good stuff first when that is depleted they will go after the things that are bad for them....

birds in larger area's that forage will move around in area's as their perticular chicken tastes take them.....I dont know if I can find the articles and such but was some fairly interesting stuff...

least thats my understanding...and ya plastic, Styrofoam apparently is like crack to them.......lol.
