Dixie Chicks

using a little giant 11300.
Upgrading to a low cost reliable 1 that works. Any suggestions would be helpful

Genesis 1588 with turner... I have used them and found them to be the best for a styrobator... cost will run you about $200 with turner and shipping... ebay is a good place to look or just go to incubator warehouse online...

Lose my brain when resetting mine, too... I sprout wheat and BOSS in throwaway cake tins punched full of holes and the lids under them. Works ok for now, lol...

@Amberjem the only thing that comes to mind when I saw your duckweed is the chickweed that grew rampant and wild in Skagit... is that similar or no?

Using mason jars they get moldy quick have to make sure rinsed and drained extremely well. (The kitty has decided any time water is running she HAS to be there, and as such is always in the way now) Very time consuming. Need better plan.

I read about how high in protein duck weed was, and how to grow it in kiddie pools. I have a 30'x40' pond full of it! I use a pool skimmer and fill a half a five gallon pail, the chickens loved the polly wogs or tadpoles and little frogs, and the leaches. I hope eating live leaches won't hurt them, didn't notice it bother them. Feeding duck weed is on my 'cost saving plan'.

lol... I had a tortie who used to do the same thing! She'd jump into the bathtub when the kids were in it, too... she stopped getting in the toilet when we put the lid down once tho... ;)

it could be duckweed is very comman in waters and is also often put into water treatment reservoirs because it also naturally filters the water

Oh she fell in the toilet one time, and no more toilet but any sink or tub or shower, she is there. Hot or old makes no difference, clean or dirty dishes either.

I might have to try that.

I just grabbed a aluminium tin from thje dollar store and using that to sprout the BOSS... I'll go back to the dollar store and get a fine mesh screen strainer so I can either sprout them in the strainer then let it sit in a bowl or use the strainer to drain the water off the seeds in the tin

OOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. *lightbulb moment*

I've been doing a bunch more reading up on the matter so the benefits of using this is that in the seed form the seeds have a natural protective coating it's called something specific I dont remember the name anyways it locks all the nutrients tight in the seed so the plant can use it sprouting the seeds rids the seed of the chemical and allows all the rich nutrients in the seed to be transformed into a more digestible easier used nutrient source for the birds or animals eating it....... not trying to sound like a know it all just sharing info so pardon if I get a lil lecture y sounding... Also this compound I'll call it a nutrient blocker can also get digested into the bird and actually cause the bird to be unable to proces the nutrients that the compound prevents from being released in a seed......
