Dixie Chicks

I read about how high in protein duck weed was, and how to grow it in kiddie pools. I have a 30'x40' pond full of it! I use a pool skimmer and fill a half a five gallon pail, the chickens loved the polly wogs or tadpoles and little frogs, and the leaches. I hope eating live leaches won't hurt them, didn't notice it bother them. Feeding duck weed is on my 'cost saving plan'.

So not only does sprouting the seeds rid one of the compound that can cause nuterient block to the chicken and make it more digestable for the animals to consum,e and uptake the nuteriants but it also Increases the amount of food of what you are feeding your livestock......so one cup of seeds increases to 3 cups of sprouted food source....

@tntchix another way to sprout seeds I was looking into was using buckets and drilling holes along the bottom small enough to filter out the water and leave the sprouts behind just set into another bucket to drain and drip between washings........ I rather like the sound of this method it'd be simply and easy to use and also do a higher volume of feed if thats your need...........

Jem, the mesh strainer thing has got me brainstorming...sending oldest out to barn to grab a bucketful of BOSS. Our farmer down the road sells it. I still have half a bag from fall. LOL Maybe I'll just experiment with the last half of the bag and see what method works best. He has plenty more.

now if i can just get the cat out of here. lol

lol... I had a tortie who used to do the same thing! She'd jump into the bathtub when the kids were in it, too... she stopped getting in the toilet when we put the lid down once tho...

My little dog jumps in the tub and waits for someone to give him water when he is out. He is so quiet that he won't cry or fuss or anything. He just sits there.
