Dixie Chicks

Bummer, Alaskan. My first query to breeders selling eggs is usually how many hens do they have producing because if they're selling a dozen eggs and only have two or three hens, well, you know by the time you get them there's some pretty old eggs in there. I have had it happen -- usually when I try to coordinate multiple egg deliveries of different breeds to fill the incubator -- where somebody's hens went molting and no eggs happened, life got in the way, a lightning strike took out the henhouse or something or other where the folks just flat out didn't get to the Post Office as promised. It's maddening to bid on something that says "delivery before Friday" on the auction site and then have it appear at post purchase tracking as "Eight business days." Arghh. I feel your pain. The best laid calendared plans oft go awry.

That being said, however, substituting something you hadn't requested for something you had agreed upon and paid for is breech of contract. Unfortunately, the seller probably feels like he did you a great big favor by including a whole dozen! You might want to contact him and see if you can work out a deal of some sort to rectify the situation. I've had Sellers send a whole 'nother batch gratis and they paid for postage, but that's the generous exception. Usually the buyer ends up paying for part or all of the postage and the eggs are free.

There are good egg purveyors and less than adequate ones and I'm sorry you dealt with the latter.

thanks.

I am finally feeling calm enough about the matter so that I can start to address the issue with the seller....

At first I was too angry, and I knew I wouldn't be able to type anything properly

that's bad Alaskan, hope the seller is able to fix the issue. Refund you the money or at least send you some more eggs..

yep! That is a clear way to explain it. Clearly, I can't explain clearly :lau
Nah, I think it was more that we couldn't comprehend that the guy was jipping you on your order, but trying to look generous at the same time... THAT is it! That is probably why I haven't been able to figure out a proper response yet for this guy... it is so much like a slap followed by, "ah, here is a lollipop" The response is TOTALLY a "huh?? what just happened????"
