Dixie Chicks

Technically it is "nutritional yeast", and the farm grade version is about 1/4 the cost of the human grade.

:D

Debittered Brewers yeast and nutritional yeast are both B vitamin rich, and sold as vegan/vegetarian supplements... Brewers is cheaper... I use both
Duck thread people always say Brewers yeast :idunno
Need to see if my Feedstore has a farm version... Forgot you mentioned that before

technically (if I understand it)

actual brewers yeast is liquid... kind of looks just like a "sponge" that you do for yeast bread... pretty much thick foamy water.... and is used in Brewing....

ya know, the yeast a brewer would use = brewers yeast

I'm going to get some brewers yeast and try that this year. I've never done it before.
I use brewers yeast all the time for brewing BEER!

My dad can not grasp the concept of a mixed flock. He's trying to make me build a pen for every breed I have. I don't want to. In fact, I won't. All this because I got a breed I wanted really badly today. 3 French Black Copper Marans chicks. I traded 3 of my chicks for them.

I just can't get a break.
I was going to do that, coop expansion looks expensive and I have a large coop already. Even those hoop coops are pricy. I know a guy from another thread that has many breeds, does mix flock and selects his breeders and uses tractors for them. I think I'm going to do the same. Already planed on it for the silkies I just got, don't want them with the others, they'd probably eat them.

Wait till he sees a blue egg from those "rhode island red" hatching eggs I got u
Lol! My dad stopped by a couple months ago. He hasn't had chickens in years, and has never heard of blue or green layers, always had RIR when I was a kid. I showed him a egg carton of my white and brown and green and olive, he said the green and olive looked rotten to him, and he looked serious! Lol!

I have a bunch separated out right now... but for at least a few months every year they are in only two coops... standard and bantam.

now I have the Marans in just the coop part... the Dominique rooster, some of his hens and "I don't want to risk them dieing" hens are in the chicken shed and greenhouse, my "I don;t care if they die" chickens are in the vegetable garden and sleeping in my table coop (an actual table partly covered by a tarp), my Ameraucana pair are in a chicken tractor, the rest of the bantams are in the bantam coop....

I have one of those ugly plastic lawn tables that we just wired some hardware cloth onto. It's my table tractor. It also has really big rock on top of it.

This is my Alfa rooster, his names Roo roo, not my best work... Anyway I think he's gorgeous, but what is the name of his colouring?
ohh he's beautiful :)

I was admiring Butler today he has such glossy lovely feathers.. he just oozes health and vitality when you look at him.....though I have a sneaky feeling he's a rir cross and not the amercana/salmon faverollie/java cross the lady told me he was... whatever I like him he is a good rooster so far not all cuddily but he isnt mean or unfriendly looks after the hens and hasnt shown any aggression with the other 5 roosters he's cohabitating with atm.......has a good solid depth and shape to his body I like and would like to see pass onto future meaties...though he could carry blue egg gene....

I spotted the NYhal cockerels looking to pay their respects to the hens today...

the orpington and orpington.jersey giant crosses..are majorly impressing me with their body size and shape..good solid round and breasty looking guys or girl...still not sure if one might not be a hen........but I think thats wishful thinking on my part...
Nah, chicken math is so easy! That's why it's sooo bad, lol!

I don't want white feathered chickens... it's like putting out the buffet table for the hawks...
wink.png

ya white white doesnt interest me...Saw the eagles circling overhead yesterday
I used to think white egg layers were just bad....

I don't know exactly why I was so prejudiced
idunno.gif

Maybe just because my grandmother only had brown egg layers

white eggs are thought of as production commericial type birds..which has a "bad" vibe
And black chickens....
My black ducklings have that green sheen to their feathers... Love it

you'd like spike she has such white metalish glossy green sheen to her feathers...haha why I thought so much she was a rooster at first...pretty sure she is laying a super pale almost white egg just the slightest hint of pink to the shell color

Gross and why I'm glad I candle my eggs before selling. This was a duck egg, biggest blood spot I've ever seen. The egg glowed pink with the light just shone on it...
eww good job!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY VEHVE!!!

I am sure the rock gives yours more class than mine...  I have just a log on the top of mine... to hold the tarp down... no cool rock  :lau

Wish I could get away with making those... Jim would have a fit tho... and we live on a big open hill so our place is the focal point for anyone driving up the road... :/
