My chickens totalled mine... Don't think it wil come back this year... Think I'm done keeping free range chickens, to much garden damage, to many predators. The duck do fine though, no flower/veggie garden destruction. And the dog keeps them safe easier because they stick together.

Today the smoke is going into our direction. Fire is still not under control and we figure ~20ish km away from us. It has burned over 10,000 hectare of land so far. Lots of forest in between us and the fires. Not very windy, but no rain in the forecast for another week. Fire seems to spread fast. Yesterday they said 6000 hectares gone.

I have the plan on how to transport all the animals off the property in my head. This includes the 4 sheep in the cab of my truck and ducks/chickens in 2 large dog kennels on the bed of my truck. Dog would have to go with my husband.

BC, Prayers are being said that the wind will shift away from you and the fire will be under control soon. It is good you have a plan to remove your animals!

I had to do the same thing last year briard... Evac plans with animals... Fun times.

Remember that you need somewhere to house them too, you can't keep them all living in your car.

Yup, for me it was easy I've got friends with farms all over the area where I could board my animals...
