How are your Rainbows doing now? Anybody else raising Rainbows?

I've got Dixie Rainbows in North Central Florida.
I got one of those big rubber feed dishes and use it as a wading pond.
They love it when it's hot out. Keeps them nicely cooled down.

I took some video of them yesterday.

It sure is nice to know they can do well in the deep South. Others have had trouble with them in southern summers.

They can quickly shed heat through their legs.
When the temps reach 95 degrees, I put fresh cool water in the tub in the afternoon.
My well water comes out of the ground at 72 degrees, year round.

That makes nearby Rainbow Springs better for swimming in the winter, than the summer.
In the winter, that 72 degrees feels warm. In the summer it feels cold.

How do you tell the males and females and does the females go broody

Hi all! I have a few Dixie Rainbow eggs under a broody hen, but they're now on day 22 and still haven't hatched or even pipped, but one is definitely chirping. All of the other eggs hatched between day 19-21 but the eggs were on the small side. The lady I got my Dixie hens from said that the eggs can take a couple extra days to hatch because of their size. Has anyone here found this to be true? I'm getting concerned.

I think my boy Wingman is 3/4 Dixie Rainbow and 1/4 Barred Rock.
I'm mating him back to the Dixie Rainbow hens to get 78% Dixie Rainbow in 3rd gen.
He is 10 pounds.
