DIY Automatic coop door W/ Video

Wow,just recently recieved my Drapery motor and bought a digital timer. I cant believe how good it works. Can't wait to install it this weekend.. How is everyone else running theres? Are you guys leaving your door open all day? thank you

Ours has been in since Christmas of 2009, and still working like a champ. Our digital timer has several settings, so we have ours open about 6:30 each morning (timed to power off one minute later), and close at 9PM each evening (power off at 9:01). I've got to get one out in our new bantam coop now - I've gotten lazy with not having to rush out in the mornings to let the girls out to the run

LOVE Love love our Addamotor! We got it at Discountautomation . Cheapest price I could find.

We didn't need the whole shabang (that's a technical term. Means Door, track, frame...) We also didn't want a swing door, only a vertical door.

DH installed it in a couple hours last May. In for a year now and never had one issue.

Has anyone tried the solar kit??????? This is me -->

Due to some financial junk we have to hold off for a few months.

Very happy with the door. I love sleeping in. Don't mind going out in the evening (actually, I love it), but the sleeping in!!!!

Oh, and yes, we keep it open all day.

The skinny white wire is a tranformer cable that's plugged into our digital timer, which is plugged into the wall outlet. But the unit you see there is just a drapery motor... We connected the lift cable to that rectangular chunk of metal as a counterweight.

Thank Ya'll. I leave for work at 5:00 am and don't have a lot of time in the morning. On my days off I'm usually up by 6:30 and have no intention of getting up any earlier. I don't know how important it is to be consistent on the time but I think the auto door would just make everything better and easier. My peeps will be here May 20 and I can't wait.
