I had these leftover bookmark blanks and a chicken wire stencil so I thought I'd share my bookmark that I made with them
here are directions for making your own!
Supplies:
Artist pastels or dark chalk
Bookmark blanks or thick cardstock
Paper
Stencil for background
Stencil for letters (optional if you have good handwriting!)
Red embroidery thread
Felt or makeup sponge you don't mind ruining
Q-tip (optional but definitely helps!)
Washi tape
Step 1: attach bookmark to stencil with washi tape
Step 2: blend pastels or chalk thickly to color desired and rub the felt or sponge over it to transfer it to the felt/sponge
Step 3: rub felt/sponge over bookmark and stencil and repeat steps 2 and 3 until bookmark is covered
Step 4: Remove bookmark from stencil and add lettering with black pastel and q-tip using same method as steps 2,3
Step 5: punch hole and add embroidery thread
Enjoy reading your chicken books and using your new chicken bookmark! This took me about 10 minutes to make. And was super easy! You could laminate it if you want to make it last a little longer, but that is up to you. Enjoy!
