Quote: Yeah I do have ventilation. Here, is this good?
They are a little bit smaller then 1/4 inch holes but I have them all around the bottom and top of the cooler.

A fan is coming. And yes the top gets a bit warm, should I put metal over the plastic?

It wouldnt hurt to add something, do you have a pop rivet gun or anything? actually screws would pull into the plastic too

No I don't have one. But I have a drill and screws, that might work. It's more solid plastic at the top anyway. :)

awesome! just remember have the fan blow across the bulbs from the side and just a tad below them so that the heat is sent throughout and doesnt cook the eggs just under the lights, you want to blow that heat over and around.

Okay, should I try and get two fans, one from each side?

Quote: We only have one in each regular coolerbator, I think they are 80mm and one has a 100 mm in it (3-4") computer fans with 12v power supplies. I dont really understand the power supplies and what all the other number mean on them, I do know I bought one and it doesnt power the fans like my others lol, I switched it out, not sure if it was shot or if it had to do with the numbers on the powersupply

Electronics really confuse me. haha

reminder I need more sponges! I have stuff hatching in bot reg coolerbators and needed sponges so this big guy got a simple water treatment, its a bit high at 47% but its gonna have to do for a day or two until I get my sponge back!

Hey Sally:
Just finished the thread... Thanks for all the info and details! One more thing for me to add to my "to-do" list

I have 2 coops in the process of being built, (and we have a winter storm advisory up for tomorrow!

) I've barely started on a brooder set-up, and my first ever chicks are due in just over 2 weeks from now

When I started all this, I was of the opinion that "they are just chickens! How much work could be involved with that?"

Well... I'm finding out! But it's been a blast so far, I've learned so much, and can't seem to get enough! Right now I don't "plan" on doing any incubation, but then plans have a way of changing, don't they? Anyway, again, just wanted to say thanks for all that you've done to help others across the site.
