I would think you can place it about the same location I did on the cabinet, top front area. I would NOT remove your fans. @ozexpat can you help with location?

The function of the fans is to distribute the heat evenly.

Your heat sources with radiate heat outwards in all directions - like a camp fire. Without movemment assisted by the fans, the incubator wil heat the eggs closes to it more efiiciently that the eggs further away. Add to this the fact that hot air rises and all your heat will be trapped at the top.

You need to work out a wat to get the heat to the bottom of the bator. That way its more like a convection oven rather than a broiler.

I use 3" ABS plastic sewer pipe with a fan to pull the air to the bottom. Get some long machine screws to pur through the fan, and secure them to the fan with nuts. Add a 3" coupling to the '# sewer pile and the machine screws will slide down the outside of the coupling but the internal diameter is perfect for the fan. Use a large hose clamp to secure it to the coupling.

I would have the lights shielded from the eggs to protect them from being toasted by the broiler effect of radiant heat.

@ozexpat would u mind showing me yours? i tried the pipe idea but didnt feel as tho any air was getting through to the incu,

what sort of fan do u use? what heat source r u using?

thank you for responding :)

Unfortunately the incubator is in the Philippines and my caretaker does not speak enough English for me to be able to get him to understand what I want. I would have to wait till my wife gets back to the farm in a few weeks.

I don't use lights. I have started using ceramic heater elements you can get on eBay.

This is a 500w 220v version but you can type a search for smaller 110v or use the 220 in a 110v incubator but the output will be way less than half.

I use mains power fans rather than 12v. They have metal casings. Using a machine screw I bolt the heater to the fan. This attatches to the pipe. I useva second pipe with fan but no heater on the other side of the bator.

The goal is not to have a wind screaming around in your bator but just an even flow of air that makes the temp even throughout the bator.

I am sorry I always forget to take photos as I am building

I was wondering if you took images of the new one/s let me know if you ever post them please, I have a hard time keeping up in the summer, thanks!

I am going to attempt to build a cabinet bator out of this old electric smoker. I've stripped it down to the box. Thought about usin two bulbs for heat and digital control. My question is would a fan from an old space heater be too much. I have a couple different ones or should I stick with computer fan? 30" tall 15 wide 13" deep.

It depends on the size of the fan in the space heater. You could certainly try it as long as you have a way to get the heat to the bottom of the cabinet and let it rise passively

hello

per your suggestion @ozexpat my heat now goes threw a pipe line intothe incu, there is to pipes pushin warm air in, seems stable atm, added sum trial eggs, to see what happens
