Diy chick grit

So I have extra slabs of granite laying around, and I was thinking. Can I mash this down into chick grit? I have a bag of poultry grit from manna pro and it says "insoluble crushed granite " . So I got to thinking, does anyone know the answer?

Maybe you should sell the granite and just buy the grit.

x2 or find another use, like a walk. Crushing granite to grit size would be a lot of hard manual work.

Can I use sand as grit from my back yard or driveway where we don't drive on.... Instead of buying it from store.

If you have not recently fertilized around the area I see no problem. Free range birds would prob go for that stuff anyways. They know what they can and can not ingest.

my chicks are 2 weeks old. But have a feeling they are a little older then that. This is my first time having chicks or chickens.
