Diy "Comfort Feathers" for Heat Plate - A bad idea?

Amazon carries a few heat plates with "comfort feather" attachments to give the chicks the impression of a mama hen.
Could I diy this by hot gluing some feathers (dropped off my hens) to my brooder? Would it be safe?

I'd take a strip of fabric and cut strips almost all the way through, like a fringe. Definitely easier and more hygienic

Yes there is a risk for the feather option. I have heard of peoples chicks dying due to getting strangled by the feathers.

I wouldn't think so you can make the fringe strips an inch or so wide.
